At 35, a thought came to me — what’s the one thing I can do best at this point of my life? “Education” was the answer. I’m here to practise how to live a life with people and events I encounter.

My aspiration is for children to cultivate an appreciation for the beauty inherent in the world, to engage in critical thinking regarding the challenges that confront them, and to emerge as proactive citizens within our community. As a parent of two adult children who exemplify the values instilled during my post-corporate life, I believe that the foundation of the Waldorf approach has significantly shaped our family’s way of life, leading to enduring connections to the life lessons they have learnt.

Having dedicated several years to voluntary teaching as a parent in a public school, and subsequently serving post-16 academic advisory to high schoolers, I embarked on a continuous learning journey as a Waldorf teacher five years ago. Since then, I have acted as a faculty representative in the Responsible Circle, contributed to the development and implementation of various protocols within the school, participated in the pedagogy team, and conducted regular curriculum presentations for the community and a broader audience. I have undergone Waldorf training for middle school modules, as well as for learning support.

Drawing from my practical experience, I am particularly intrigued by the transformative potential of classroom interventions within the educational sphere, influencing not only individual learners but also reshaping the broader social and systemic landscape.

The search for truth that began after graduation led me to Waldorf education at the age of 28. What started as a choice for my children’s schooling became a path of personal development, offering deep insights into human nature and guiding how I live and work. The more I explore anthroposophy, the richer and more meaningful life becomes.

From 2017 to 2019, I worked as a teacher at Kajang Waldorf-Inspired School. Between 2020 and 2024, I initiated a Waldorf-inspired homeschooling group with like-minded families. I also started several anthroposophy study groups for shared learning and mutual inspiration. In 2022, I enrolled in the Malaysia Waldorf Teacher Preparation Course and also served as the interpreter for the three-year program. These diverse experiences have broadened my perspective on education and helped me cultivate openness and flexibility in my approach.

I believe that every human being has the innate capacity for self-transformation, and through it, the ability to bring meaningful change to the world. My task as an educator is to nurture each child's unique potential so they may unfold fully and contribute to the ongoing development of humanity in their own way.

With a humanities degree from the University of Melbourne, I’ve spent more than half a decade engaging with the masses as a radio personality, and another half dabbling with business, tech, psychology, and public services. I once lamented this fragmented self, lost on a blind path.

Embarking on the Waldorf journey three years ago helped me put the pieces together. I realised that I have always been drawn to one central theme: human being, and being human. Every prior experience revealed a different facet of the truth — that it is the betterment of the soul and the freeing of the spirit that makes our lives on earth truly worthwhile.

Teaching felt like a natural way to live this truth, while supporting others on the same path of becoming — to guide children in unfolding their individuality, connecting with others, and discovering their place in the family of things. At last, I can embrace the roots I once resisted and return to my family of teachers.

Working with children has been vital to my own growth as a young adult. It has pushed me to the utmost limit of my patience, and it has shown me the beauty of passing through the different stages of maturation as I guide the children through school. I have always enjoyed the laughter and natural curiosity of children, and I have been blessed with the opportunity to be a teacher at a Montessori school for the past year. I'm looking forward to my new journey as a Waldorf teacher at Samara Tualang School. I have hopes that it will be a long and fulfilling journey, and I have a feeling that it will be one.

Growing up in a big family taught me how different and unique each person truly is. Even siblings who share the same parents each with their own personality, way of thinking, and values. This experience shaped how I see education: it should never be one-size-fits-all. Every child deserves to be seen and supported for who they are.

Before stepping into education, I worked in the media as a news broadcaster. That experience gave me a glimpse into the real and often unspoken sides of the world — stories that didn’t always make it to the public. It made me wonder how I could bring more hope and light into society, and that question eventually led me to education.

I believe that by understanding, accepting, and guiding the younger generation with warmth and honesty, we can truly make a difference. To do that, I begin with myself — to live truthfully, act sincerely, and grow toward becoming a whole human being — because we teach most deeply not through words, but through the lives we live.

Teacher Pat

I’ve been teaching in a Waldorf environment for the past 10 years. Last year, I completed my 3-year Biography Coaching Course and offer biographical dialogues with anyone who is curious to explore their life.

Before I became a mother of three, I have worked as a journalist, a florist, and even a door-to-door salesperson. I have always loved travelling — experiences that have shaped how I see the world and connect with others. These life journeys, have helped prepare me for the work I do today: supporting and guiding children as they grow.

I believe learning through nature, rhythm, and creativity — as offered in the Waldorf approach — gives children a truly wholesome start to life. Each day, I witness how music, art, movement, and storytelling nourish the children — and how my students, in turn, teach me about life.

Craft has always been an important part of my life. I have loved working with my hands since young, exploring different materials and creating with curiosity and joy. Over the past eight years, I have run my own art and craft studio, Midori Studio, where I teach various forms of handwork and handcrafts to both children and adults. My journey with Waldorf education began almost ten years ago, when I first encountered its beautiful philosophy. At that time, I could never imagine myself working with children—until I became a mother. In 2023, I began my path as a handwork teacher, bringing the warmth and wonder of handwork into children’s learning, and growing alongside them in patience, creativity and joy.

Handwork

Handwork

Teacher Vivien

I practised as a graphic designer for over 20 years, and alongside that I have always enjoyed many forms of craft, especially fabric work such as patchwork, sewing, and simple furniture upholstery. Crafting has long been a source of joy and therapy for me, and since young, I delight in making things for others. Four years ago, I began teaching handwork in the Waldorf school, and what started as me teaching children has become a journey of learning from them as well. I’ve come to appreciate that the true purpose of handwork is not just about finishing a project, but about helping children grow in patience, focus, and confidence as they enjoy the process of creating something of their own. Looking ahead, I hope to continue guiding students to create work that is both beautiful and practical — whether a bag, pencil case, or hat — and to grow together with them in this journey.

Malay Language

Teacher Dayang

Art

Teacher Honey

I am an artist, nature-lover, and Anthroposophical art counsellor with over three decades devoted to creative and therapeutic work. A graduate of the Malaysian Institute of Art (MIA, 1995), my artistic journey has unfolded through exhibitions in Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Cambodia, China, Italy, and Spain. Each encounter with art deepens my belief that creativity is a living stream that awakens the soul and nurtures wholeness.

My professional training includes Transpersonal Arts Counselling (City & Guilds Level 7, Tobias School of Art and Therapy, UK), Arts for Health and Wellbeing (Level 5), and Art Therapy at Alanus University, Germany. These experiences have grounded me in a holistic understanding of the human being through the language of art. In the Waldorf community, I hold space for children and adults to meet line, colour, and form as living experiences that nourish the spirit, awaken creativity, and lead one gently toward inner balance.

Teacher Kit

Woodwork

With seven years of experience as a Waldorf woodwork teacher, I am also the founder of ARKITSAN — a passion project rooted in a love of working with reclaimed wood. As a Waldorf parent, I believe deeply in the magic of hands-on learning and in the beauty of turning old timber into something new and meaningful.

I am grateful to be part of this school community and look forward to welcoming the children into the woodwork space, where they can explore, create, and grow. Through the steady rhythm of hand tools and the warmth of natural materials, I hope to nurture in each child a sense of care, confidence, and connection with the world around them.

Drama

Teacher Lay Chin

I am a theatre director, educator, and Artistic Director of Move Creativ. I hold a degree in directing from Taipei National University of the Arts and was mentored by the late Hugh K.S.Lee of the Ping-Fong Acting Troupe. Since returning to Malaysia in 2009, I have directed a wide range of works and trained both students and professional performers. My work focuses on realism, storytelling, and the emotional truth of the performer. I’m here because I believe in the power of play—not just as a rehearsal tool, but as a pathway to expression, healing, and human connection. Teaching theatre is my way of sharing that belief with others.

Movement

Teacher Matthew

I am a parent and teacher with a diverse portfolio of experience. My educational background and family upbringing were within a Steiner school setting in Hungary and the UK, with a strong sense of community and support for one another. I love games and my happiest childhood memories at school include break time playing with friends.

I studied at a United World College in India where I found a deep appreciation for cultural diversity and a humbleness towards others. I have experience teaching diverse practical skills; from life skills to young people with learning difficulties, to furniture making, woodwork and design, and barista coffee skills!

I am excited to work with young children in this new setting, fostering healthy, balanced individuals through movement and games.

Movement

Teacher Clint

Hi, I'm Clint Diaz, but my students and their families know me best as Teacher Papa!

I have been teaching children for almost 15 years and currently teaching Gymnastics and the Child Care Program in The Little Gym International.

For me, teaching isn't just about learnings; it's about mentorship. I believe every child holds incredible potential, and it's my passion to help them discover it. Whether we're learning a new sport or practicing fitness education, my goal is always the same: to instill unshakeable confidence, focus, and a kind disciplined heart.

I believe that the greatest treasure a parent can pass on to their child is "Wisdom"!

Music | String

Teacher Eunice

Stepping into the 9th year of being a Waldorf music teacher, I truly enjoy all the daily music making with the children. I love the space and freedom of how the Waldorf music curriculum is provided for each child. From unison singing to class choir, from solo instrument to ensemble playing, and of course, from improvisation to creating their own music. All these experiences help shape the children's musicality as a whole and as an individual. It is my vision to create, to listen, and to feel all the sparkling musical moments in the classroom, here at STS.

Music

Teacher Hui Kee

I graduated with a BA (Hons.) in Classical Music from UCSI and began my teaching journey in 2008. Two years later, I founded my own music school, Blue Grass Music & Arts. In 2024, I became the first certified Music Mind Games USA teacher trainer in Southeast Asia, and the 8th worldwide. After a decade of teaching, I discovered Waldorf education —a path that deeply resonated with my educational philosophy. In 2019, I became a Waldorf music teacher, embracing a renewed purpose in nurturing children’s growth through music that continues to inspire me every day.

Outdoor Classroom

Teacher Fai

Nature and the outdoors has always been a huge part of me. I grew up working on my grandparents' farm and was mentored by Raman, an Orang Asli, and Vee, a former commando. During the MCO period, I worked on Lang Tengah Island, and I also volunteered with the NGO Raleigh in the forests of Costa Rica and Sabah. My other outdoor skills include a scuba diving license and a seafaring license. Sharing my skills and seeing kids understand and gain confidence in something new gives me a sense of fulfillment and pride.

Outdoor Classroom

Teacher Daryl

For as long as I can remember I have drawn comfort, inspiration, and fortitude from the natural world. The loss of wisdom pertaining to nature and the current and widening divide between humanity and the world around us are causes of worry to me on a deeply personal level. Although environmental concerns are familiar in the public mind, the solutions to those problems are not as clear-cut. Having been educated in ecology and conservation, I firmly believe that understanding and personal engagement pave the way towards a better, wiser future for the human species and the world we live in. The chance for me to contribute towards such a future through teaching, outreach, and learning is what motivates me not only as an educator, but as a person.
